Acupuncture
Recent studies showed that acupuncture may improve the chances of pregnancies for women undergoing assisted reproductive treatment. The theory behind acupuncture is uncertain. In addition, it may facilitate the reduction of psychological stress and anxiety. Acupuncture helps to calm and relax the uterus and as a result, the lining of the uterus might become more receptive to an embryo and ultimately leading to a successful pregnancy. This service is conducted by a team of experienced physiotherapists at the Physiotherapy department in Union Hospital. Patients are advised to have acupuncture 25 minutes before and after the embryo transfer.

Acupuncture may be suitable for the following patients:

  1. very stressful patients

  2. very nervous patients

  3. patient who has repeated failure in previous IVF cycles
